Batter Up

We had a little scare here today. Josh, Jeremy, and one of the neighborhood boys were playing outside. Jeff was outside too and I was in the house. All of the sudden I hear Joshie screaming, that in-and-of-itself wasn't unusual, but what followed was. Jeff and Jeremy were both saying, "What happened? Are you okay?" Jeff sounded nervous. I go tearing outside and as soon as I get out the door Jeff says, "It's okay, there's no blood." But he's holding Josh's head. I see no cut, scrape, bruise, or bump yet Josh is still crying. I could tell by his cry at this point that he was not badly hurt. I scoop him up and comfort him. Turns out that while swinging the baseball bat the 13 year old neighbor boy hit Josh in the head. He felt SO HORRIBLE. He was hanging his head and apologizing over and over. Honestly I felt worse for him than Josh. I made sure he knew that we weren't mad at him and that we also knew it was an accident. It was a lesson for all three boys to be more careful.

I never even felt a lump on his head, or even saw a red spot. I think it scared them more than it hurt. Although I'm sure it hurt. And I Thank God that it wasn't anything serious.

Nature

Being four the world is so different. Yes, he's still four. Five doesn't come until 6 days from now. We had a little chat on the way to the mailbox today. Ok, so basically I just listened, which is mainly the case when it comes to Josh.

"Mommy, do the leaves have things they can hear with?"

"The grass doesn't care if it gets stepped on, right? Because it's made for stepping on. See, it doesn't hurt it. It likes to get stepped on."
