Oh My!

Joshua and I took a ride in an elevator today. He was thrilled as usual and excited to know we were going to the TOP (9th) floor. He pushed the button to summon the elevator, but once inside he couldn't quite reach the #9 button, and I had the baby in the sling so I pushed it for him. He decided he'd sit down on the floor for the ride. His smile as as wide as his face and he couldn't stop giggling. What is it about elevators that he loves? We reach our destination floor and, still giggling, he looks at me and says,

"Did that tickle your penis too?"

Man it was all I could do to hold in the laughter!

"Ummmm, no Josh. Remember Mommy doesn't have a penis."

*Sigh*

Guess who cut his own hair while getting ready for school today?

Stupid Criminal Tricks

Another trip down memory lane. This happened so long ago I can't remember when! But it was sometime within the last 18 mos, so he was 3 1/2 or older LOL!

I was at work and Jeff was home with the boys, Justine wasn't born yet. You have to walk thru our living room to get to the playroom. The boys aren't allowed to have food out there, yet here comes Josh with a stack of about 7 or 8 slices of American Cheese headed straight for the playroom. Jeff gave him 2 instructions ... ONE slice at a time and eat in the kitchen! So, Joshua heads back to the kitchen.

Jeff hears the fridge door open, some banging around then Josh appears back around the corner into the living room. He comes struting thru the living room sporting what wasn't unusual attire for him at all ... just his underwear. This time there was something different though ... out of the each of the leg holes you could see the corner of a slice of cheese.

To this day that visual cracks me up ... to the point of tears.

Jeff confronts Josh with a "WHAT are you doing?" Admittedly Josh says "Trying to hide the cheese from you to get into the playroom."

Ahhhhhh, the honestly of children. LOL!

Name That Smell

Not today, but recently Josh and I were on our way to the store. Taking the same route as we had countless times before. He's rambling endlessly, as usual and asks me ...

"Do you smell that, Mom?" I hear him sniff.
"Smell what?" I ask very curiously! I genuinely didn't smell anything!
"I smell hippos." He replies. He was TOTALLY serious! No giggling or playing around.
"Nope, I don't. What does it smell like?" It was all I could to hold back the laughter as I asked.
He sighs. "Like hippos! You know, like dirty water with grass in it!?!"

What a good memory he has. The Hippoquarium, as they call it at the Toledo Zoo is really neat. And it is, in fact, dirty water with grass and hippos in it. LOL!

Questions, Questions, Questions

Some of the MANY questions Joshie asked while we were in the van today:

* Why does it take so long to grow up?
My answer: Because then you get lots of time to enjoy being a kid.
His reply: It's not always fun being a kid.

* Don't you hate driving all the time Mom?
My answer: Yes!

* Did you know what I was gonna look like now, when I was a baby?
My answer: Nope!

Journals of Josh

I have three children. They all pose different challenges to me as their parent. Joshua is the one that's always saying or doing something that just amazes me, cracks me up, and makes me want to make note of it for future laughs. I've been saying for a long time I should make a memory book for him, but never have. Creating a blog about him is easier for me, and then others can take the "Joshua Journey" with me if they so choose! Some things are stories and some are 'one liners'. All of it is my Josh!
